Hello everyone! I think I'm the only guy participating in this exchange, so just thought I should try to represent. ^^ I must admit that I have not knit many punk items. This is partly because I'm a fairly new knitter (just over a year) and partly because I've been knitting for everybody else (who aren't really into punkesque things). I finally started knitting for myself this past January but have only managed this hat, which I like but don't find very punk. I also knitted my boyf a willie warmer last fall, but that is just subversive and not necessarily punk, especially with the variegated white/blue yarn I used. I do want to knit myself a pair of fingerless gloves, which seems to be something that a lot of people consider "automatically" punk, but since I want them to match my hat, I wouldn't consider this particular pair to be punk... I really like this design from the anticraft but am not really into arm warmers... perhaps it'd be good for a scarf?
So, a random, not-very-punk-but-perhaps-something-you-never-thought-of-but-may-find-kind-of-interesting sort of question. Do you say "knit" or "knitted" for the past tense of "to knit"? I notice that I use both, with no clear distinction between the two...

Umm, I would say that a willie warmer is pretty punk and I really like the hat! I suppose its what punk means to you...
Umm, on the linguistics question, I find that I use both as well. It depends on the sentence and what the other words in the in the sentence (would that be the qualifiers?) to sound correct. Have to think about this a little more to give examples...
i think i use knit... i once knit my brother a dickie, that's a nice knit willie warmer you've got there...
i dont think i've ever used knitted...
hmmm...
where can i find a willie warmer pattern? lol
i use both. mainly because i usually dont think about what i type. or say.
i think i say knitted more tho.
i knitted a scarf for my mother.

this is the willie warmer pattern I used: http://www.dangliebits.com/kwillie.html. it wasn't difficult at all. and if you're wondering whether to knit it for an erect or flaccid willie, a good suggestion is to do a garter rib (is that what it's called? a few rows stockinette alternating with a few rows reverse stockinette?) so that it stretches vertically.
Oh my, I so had a guy ask me to knit him (as he called it) a cock sock! lol
I also use both, but more often knit than knitted.
Hi! It's great to have a guy here!
