Thank You Spinalcat!!

Thank you, Amy aka Spinalcat aka Una (I was the other Una, so when she picked her name, I did get a good laugh!!)

I got an awesome package today!! There was Tofu sock yarn, which I have been eyeing online - but none of my local stores carry it. It is a beautiful purple/blue/green colorway, the socks that come out of this will definately be for me! There are some suggested sock patterns, which is great, since I am new to socks. A set of magnets that she made - they were left out of the original photo since they were already being used!! And a huge box of pecans - there are candied, chocolate covered and plain. Which means that Spinalcat will also be loved by mr.sunneshine, since nuts are his favorite, too!! Finally, I had to show you the notation on the box of nuts - too cute!!

Thanks again, Spinalcat!!

She sent me a card with some stitch markers in it the other day. Then yesterday I got a package with some yarn and a little photo album. She added some coffee candies too!

I wonder what I should make with this new yarn?
Thanks Elspeth!!

Second package for me!!!

And this lovely package came from my PRGE pal - the lovely, talented, and very smart Kate of I'm a crafty girl. She just graduated from college so I figure she is pretty smart. I already know what I am gonna knit with the Koigu - a pair of socks for little Nicholas. I'll take a picture of the little one in his new socks when they get done. Then there is the Sugar'N Cream cotton yarn in Hot Blue and Grape. More dishcloths for me. I think I might make that Ballband Dishcloth from Mason-Dixon Knitting. I keep meaning to but just haven't gotten around to it. Then there is the Tofutsies sock yarn. Very pretty. And last but not least - Knitting On the Road by Nancy Bush. Big hugs to Kate!!!

This arrived at the perfect time - yesterday. It was pretty crappy weather wise here in Hillsboro and I had lost my voice. Plus today is my 2nd wedding anniversary. Yeah!!!

Package Dos!

Today I got my second PRGE package! I feel good.Inside Package dos First, I'll let you all in on the secret of who my pal is! None other than the hostess herself, Sunne. Thanks Sunne, you've been fantastic so far, and the whole exchange has been running smoothly it seems. Ky was very excited about this whole thing, he was dancing around the table singing "whatcha got, watcha got, watcha got?!" What a haul! Handpainted Tussah Silk, a smidgen of purple merino, DPNs from size 1US - 6US, a needlecase, handmade soap, scissors, a catnip toy, a cute necklace and a little metal heart. The little metal heart made me think of this worry stone my mother used to have. Forgive the crappy pictures, as you remember, my camera died. *sniffle* I think I have a set of each of the DPNs, well except for the 4s and 5s, but you all know how rough I am on those! lol They will definitely come in handy.

To see more, check out my blog.

My Cup Runneth Over

I got a fantastic package from my SP, brimming with goodies...

...including this hand-dyed, flaming-skull festooned, hand-knit felted basket.

I'll post details on the package contents tomorrow on my blog, because it was loaded with tons of good stuff--even a hand-knit present for Mr. O'Kitten! Thanks and huge hugs to Alison, motherofallneedles, my super-wonderful SP who is spoiling me silly!

Happy Birthday Julie

Just wanted to wish my pal, Julie a very happy, healthy birthday today.

Tuesday, April 17, 2007

Thank you for the second parcel

I will post a picture soon, but she sent 2 x 50g of brownish Maggi Knits cotton + Irish linen DK yarn, which begs to be knitted into something summery, and 3 handmade bone(? hmm, hope it's plastic) skull stitch markers in a tin with a great picture of a dancing skelebones ... you have to see this, it's great ... slightly umm ... scary, but great beads! I went down to the beads shop to look for skulls to make stitch markers for my PRGE pal last week, sadly I couldn't find beads but did find something else :>

Congrats to Cheryl

Congrats to Cheryl from KnittingKnut for winning the 2nd prge contest!! Here is a picture of the prize that will go out to her today! There are two skeins of Atacama alpaca in a very punk black and grey colorway, a set of row counters from my etsy store and a very punk (knitting) tote!!

Thanks to everyone who entered!! The next contest is Best Pal - so don't forget to keep in touch with your pals and get those second boxes sent and posted by May 5th... I am not sure how many best pal prizes will be awarded but there will be a couple at least.... Haven't figured out if there will be a panel of judges reading the entries or another hat drawing, so let me know what you'd like...

Happy Knitting!!

Another FO with Stuff from my SP

I forgot to show you guys the other thing I made with yarn from my SP. She sent me this lovely Sirdar Indigo cotton...

And I knitted this up using the Cascading Leaves pattern that I'm so fond of.

It's the same lace I used in my hat pattern. Now tell me...how did my SP know I love cobalt blue?

Running a little late...

But here is my contest entry! I really wanted to find some tough looking punk guy with a big mohawk to hold my yarn and take a photo, but didn't run into any of those in the past couple days -- or have any time to search one out... So instead my beautiful yarn from my pal is posing with my new Target rain boots and my sock monkey!

Have a great week!!

Talk Nerdy To Me...

Here's my contest piece.. yeah, it doesn't look all that punk, but I can explain. First of all, I thought about cutting up the cherry tote that my pal sent, but couldn't bring myself to do it! So, I started knitting the yarn. And thinking that I needed a lightweight scarf, in blue, to go with my fetching, for the spring. And then it hit me. Make it a Moebius Scarf! (In a nerdy way, I think knitting a Moebius is kinda punk.. it's certainly a little different anyway...) So, it was made as such, and it also was my first sucessful attempt at Kitchener stitch. (Sad, I know.) So, I added the plaid buttons that my pal sent with the tote, and Voila! here you have it. Secret Pal - this yarn was soooo nice to work with! Thanks again!

I got my 2nd package too!!

I got 2 skeins of Patons wool and bamboo yarn that is really soft and changes colors at just the right time! I love the colors! They are totally ME. I also got cute stitch markers and some chocolate covered espresso beans!! Yum!

This was a wonderful suprise to come home to! Now that we are going to get more snow tomorrow, it will be nice to sit and knit with this comfy yarn!!

Thank you so much! The gifts are just perfectly chosen for me!

My 2nd package!!!!!

Yahoo!!! What a surprise!!! I already got my second package!!! AND she threw in an extra birthday surprise. It is soooooo nice!!! She sent me Lego fun snacks, Hershey's kisses--- YUM!!! Cute little candles!!! And some skull stitch markers that are in the York Mint tin, I didn't take a picture of them, because I thought it was candy, until my daughter wanted some and we opened it to find some cute stitch markers!! AND a knit kit for lacy lace up gauntlets with hand painted yarn ( all in a cute balloon box!). AND more still... hemp yarn and a pattern from Knitty for an Eiffel sweater!!! Very Cute!!!! One more thing.... pirate bandages!!! Everything is GREAT!!!! My pal is AWESOME!!!!

One-Skein Beanie Recipe

My uber-terrific SP sent me a beautiful skein of Savanna alpaca-linen-new wool-nylon in a scrumptuous raspberry sorbet color. I thought it might just be the right thing to fashion a new lid out of...and here it is!

I'm really excited because I attempted the punk experiment of creating my own pattern. It's a very simple 8-row lace repeat that looks like cable, and you can make this hat with about 70 m (76 yd) of yarn. Woo-hoo!

So come visit my blog and help yourself to an easy-peasy one-skein beanie pattern. So it's not The Anarchist Cookbook, but we knitters, after all, are quite the renegades.

Punked Up Knitting

My pink and black yummy alpaca that my awesome secret pal sent me got quickly turned into a mini-purse, so I don't lose my phone and debit card and whatnot...

punked up pirate 3

I bought the pirate off of Ebay, and didn't know what to do with him... until I got that yarn, and knew that it had to be done! :D

Quick and Dirty

punked purseAlright, I'm leaving for California in about...3 hours and I'm making a blog post. What's wrong with me? Here it is, my punked out gift. You're all saying...what? Your pal gave you a purse? I don't remember that. No sillies. She gave me the prety flowery patch. I just sewed it onto my purse. And embellished it a bit with paint markers. Actually, it looks a lot better in the pictures than in real life. But I love it. Thanks Una! I forgot to grab a before shot. D'oh!

See you all in a week!

Blogging is hard - thank goodness for my secret pal!

I've been slow in getting my thanks posted to my secret pal (as I haven't been able to log onto my knitting blog for a week! Damn you, Blogger!!!!!) but she rocks!

THANK YOU SECRET PUNK PAL. KISSES TO YOU, GIRL!!!!!

I got a great package last month (it got through customs and everything!) It included:
a lovely skein of deep purple alpaca/silk and a book on one-skein knitting projects, a cute little card, notebooks for my knitting notes and some very useful knitting gear (dpns and large-eyed needles).
Just the thing for a beginning knitter - which I am less in denial about being than I was one month ago, just before I melted my first completed scarf by forgetting it was 50% acrylic and trying to block it with an steam iron - heh, heh (choke). Don't worry honey, that scarf will just take a little longer to be done than I had thought . . .

I guess, as I'm having such blogging problems as somehow losing my blog off of my dashboard, I should admit that I'm a beginning blogger, too, huh? Can I say that I hate being a public beginner?! It's the one time that, as an adult, I act like I'm in still high school - all insecure and uptight and moody and defensive. Poor me.

And, poor secret pal! She's been so, so lovely with wonderful notes to me and questions (like she's really interested and stuff!) - I like her. Thanks, and a friendly hug to you all.

New online knitting magazine

Hey folks! Don't know how many of you are interested, but I've found a new online knitting magazine similar to Knitty. Meet Tejemenjes, en EspaƱol! There are some really fun and really pretty looking items on their site. There's a great "teddy bear" hat, and really pretty lacy socks (next sock project?)...More reason for me to pick up Spanish again...

I do return to catch up

I finally returned rather late last night from Melbourne after 3 weeks woring down there and had a pile of mail to catch up on and a few parcels. I was glad to get home to see my PRGE parcel that over the phone sounded awesome and I couldnt wait to get my hands on the alpaca.

I have loveley chocolate that we dont have here in Australia which I cant wait to eat when I can get a few moments after everything. Sheep erasers and a thick pencil as well as a timber bookmark and an emergency party kit. I was actuallythinking of investing in a foil blanket for the car just incase I ever needed one. Now I have one so that is perfect thinking. I must say my pal got it all together really good. Thankyou.

Punk knitting...

Check these out. Just found them on Amazon and immediately thought of this group. On the other hand, I managed to get that knitting mystery that my pal sent me on my Ipod. Yeah!!!

Thank-you pal!!!

My package arrived!!! Thanks so much Pal :) I LOVE it, I could smell lavender even before I opened the box, I LOVE lavender :)
There was a beautiful book called Afghan Romance, can't wait too flip through it, 3 skeins of Plymouth Dreambaby Kokonut, super soft and very pretty colors, 2 skeins of yellow Plymouth Dreambaby (I see summer hats for my girls with this), 2 lavender candle tarts, lavender soap and bath confetti, Thanks so much :)

Second Contest!!

Hello Punks!!
Once again, checking in to see if everyone is having fun yet? Some great boxes being passed around - its always fun to see what people give and get!! I do have a couple people that have not posted boxes - does that mean that you didn't recieve a box, or just that it hasn't made it to PRGE yet? You all will be getting an e-mail from me today trying to get this sorted out...

Okay, so I know you are all waiting with baited breath...The Second Contest is... Take a piece of the first package that you received from your punk pal and PUNK IT UP, then photograph it and explain. I know a lot of you have knit with the yarn/patterns sent by your pals, so if you would like to show off what you knit in some punk way, creatively display your stitch markers, do something creative with yarn that you were sent, there are a million options!! So go for it - have fun - and remember that this is a good way to thank your pal just a little more for spoiling you....

And of course, we can't have a contest without prizes!! So, once again everyone who enters will have their name placed in a hat and the winner will be drawn from the Shriner's Jeep Patrol Hat. The contest closes on the 12th of April with the drawing on Friday, April 13th! Very punk day! The prizes have yet to be determined - I know that there will be yarn, stitch markers and a tote, just like last time, I just haven't gotten it all together for a photo!! Soon, I promise!!

If anyone has any comments or feedback, please let me know!!
Have a great weekend!!

PRGE Package #1: Arrived and Loved!

PRGE Package #1
Originally uploaded by NutScraps.
My package actually arrived a few days ago... look at all of this wonderful stuff! To aid in my first attempt at knitting socks, my Buddy sent two wonderful magenta and blue skeins of the softest sock yarn that I've felt. I wound a ball and had to get them on some needles that night! I also received the "domiknitrix" book that I've been so tempted to purchase (thank goodness I didn't), a great Betty Boop bag (which happens to be the perfect size for my WIP socks), three different 'flavors' of body butter from Bath & Body (which I love, love, love), a super cute notebook and (although not pictured) a wonderful rope toy for my dear, Golden Retriever, Lucy (she had it out of the box and was going to town immediately!).

Thank you, PRGE Buddy! You rock!

kurt 1967-1994

i just wanted to post this, cuz nirvana kicks ass, and kurt died in 1994 on this day. He means alot to me, maybe some of u out there feel the same.....Here is a coupleof quotes from kurt.... “Punk is musical freedom. Its saying doing and playing what u want. In websters terms, nirvana means freedom from pain, suffering, and the external world, and thats pretty close to my definition of punk rock” “I’d rather be hated for who i am, than loved for who i am not”. The last one means alot to me, its taken me awhile to realize that i should just say, "f*** the poeple who dont like me in my family, they were always so rude, screw them". So i hope everyone is havin a great time, and learn to luv what truly matters, cuz it can be taken away at any moment. instead of "i wish i could have" lets make some " im glad i did" luv u kurt, cant wait to see u when i get there :)

take care everyone
