contest for peaknits

My computer is acting up, so I'm just posting here from our school computer...

I took your "Red Barchetta" to drive along "A Foreign Road" where you wanted to "Dream on"... And I'd love to do this in the "November Rain" by Guns 'n Roses

I really hope this counts for the contest, even if it is not on my blog

And Now This Joke Is Done....

Okay, so Sunne started with:

"Sorry, Somehow" by Husker Du

And I came back with:

"What's Left" by Clit 45

To which she answered:

"That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore" by The Smiths

And I now reply:

"Exhaust Breath" by The Circle Jerks.

For Valeria II

Valeria - I see your "What's Left" and return to you with a "That joke isn't funny anymore" by The Smiths... It is coming down to the wire - but we are still in there! When my car radio died ( a couple cars ago) this song was stuck on repeat in the CD player - I think it was a sign...

Happy Knitting!!

Okay, so with Dawn, I started with:
Good Mornin' Da by The Tossers,

To which she responded:

Contest #2 - Barrel of Monkeys

Okay, this contest has been floating around in my head for so long, I just can't wait to announce it any longer... This contest is based on a driving game that my family used to play. We would pick a theme and go around and the last letter of the entry before yours, has to be the first letter of yours.

So, I have adapted this. I know that some of us have not gotten our packages yet - so I am going to extend the deadline on this contest, since you have to know who your pal is to play. This contest will extend till the 30th of April. Since this is a dependent contest, the prizes will go to both pals. I am not sure what they will be yet, but I would guess there will be an earth day theme....

So the spoiler will start the contest. The first contest post, has to reference the contest somewhere in the post and give one song to the spoilee. If you post about other things, please have the song for your pal be in the last paragraph and reference your pal. The spoilee will have to take the last letter of the title of the spoilers post and make that the first letter of their post. They also have to find a song that somehow relates to the spoilers song and toss that back to the spoiler. Then it bounces back to the spoiler, with the same rules. I am asking for two posts from each party. The posts can be as short as the song/pal or as long as you please. And yes, this could mean that you might have to post 4 times in 2.5 weeks. I look forward to trying to track this, and hopefully keeping pals talking. The last contest was so cool, I look forward to what you all come up with!!

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me!

Thanks for Playing!!

Sunneshine is AWESOME!

I got my first package from Sunneshine the other day and she picked out the PERFECT stuff for me. You have quite the intuition for this, lady! A nice thick chunky black cotton for the rad hat pattern she sent, a cute little felted beaver guy kit (cuz I'm a felting virgin), a hot handmade needle case that I was just realizing I needed and very happily filled up, pus a knitting journal to keep track of it all. My little man immediately seized on the felted beaver: "What IS this, Mommy? Is it for me? I think it's for me. Make it. Make it for me right NOW, Mommy!"
I'll be posting again with the results as soon as I make these awesome projects happen! Can't wait! Thank you, thank you, thank you, Sunne!

Woo package!

Yesterday I got my awesome package from Girly with a Twist! And to make it even more awesome--the book is autographed!

swappackage

Thank You Jerry

I got my package from Jerry and all I can say is WOW!!! There was some beautiful burgundy/rust yarn,Posh in colorway Phoenix,(my first Posh) an Elvis Costello cd, a reversible handmade project bag, glorious, a magnificent skull necklace(i loves me bones working in radiology) and two yes TWO skeins of yarn handspun by Jerry, they are wonderful!! The color is awesome purple black, I have been trying to figure out what I might make and I have decided on mitts or mittens, people don't always get to see your socks and I want to be able to say the yarn was designed especially for me by Twisted Knitster..heehee....thank you so much Jerry.

I am hoping my package is close to its recipient, I found out it was mailed later than I though and I am having bounced back emails trying to let my partner know. You would think by now I would just mail my own packages instead of entrusting that to others. But dear pal it is on its way.

Here is what I received in my lovely package from Jerry...

A package arrives in Oregon...

Today was a great mail day. Not only did my birthday gift from my mom arrive (late as usual since my birthday was last month), but this fantastic package arrived from Kelly of Bella Bambina. Lil Nathan saw the gummy worms and instantly wanted some. He even went so far as to open the bag by himself. I love the coffee choices - Double Chocolate and Chocolate Caramel flavors. There was Patons SWS, Peaches n' Cream cotton, some cotton thread for baby booties or maybe a christening gown. The purple yarn cake is hand dyed sock yarn that she did herself. And I finally got one of those chart keepers from Knit Picks. Then there is the first item I saw in the package - the bright orange dishcloth with the number "31" on it for my favorite Nascar driver - Jeff Burton.

Here is a picture of some of the post cards that were sent along with some Navy themed items. Both the husband and myself were in the Navy and actually met on an aircraft carrier. The bag of gummy worms had already been opened by Nathan.

But we can not forget these adorable hand knit hats for each of the boys - both lil ones got a hat as well as the husband (aka The Chief). He was pretty thrilled when I told him about it. Thank you Kelly!!!

Waiting, waiting....

I hate to do this, but I am going to postpone the contest for a couple days, till at least half of us have received our packages. Since the contest requires you and your pals to chat - its easier to do it out in the open. I am sure all the boxes will be received by the end of this week... right?

To entertain you while you wait, here are my bucaneer booty socks - made from my mitten leftovers.

Keep checking back for the contest - I am hoping to have it up by Thursday....
