Last Package Sent

Sent off today. Sorry I flaked on the last contest. Too much going on in the home and the brain to reconcile with PRGE.
But I do know that Vanessa will LOVE her box. The box itself is not so gorgeous but the insides...ah. Now that is made of pure beauty.
And I have to leave you with this quote that has been floating around Twitter:

Rosa sat so Martin could walk. Martin walked so Obama could run. Obama is running so our children can fly.

I don't mean to bring politics in here but hell.
GO VOTE!!!!!!
(and if you are in California - NO ON PROP 8!!!

heee heeeee.

My Second Package!

The bestest pal in the world, Carly, sent me my second package early because she knew I was going through some stress at work.
This package absolutely ROCKS!
Everything came in a Knit In Public bag with a ton of little pockets inside. Carly hid all the goodies in the pockets. (There could possibly be some I haven't found yet, LOL.)

I got some cute note cards and a note pad, some beautiful peacock-colored Lamb's Pride, some "Hand made By:" tags, the prettiest beads evah!, and a bath fizzy I can't wait to try out.

Thank you, Carly! I hope you get some equally awesome stuff in your next package!

A round-about Contest Answer

So Shannon sent me this golf club cover pattern to go with the Malabrigo I sent her. Golf isn't the punkest thing, so I played a little '6 degrees of separation' to get to my answer (but I didn't go 6 steps!)

Golf Records is the label of Less than Jake. Ska is not so much my thing, but Less than Jake opened for Bad Religion when I saw them in concert in Montreal in December 2002. Montreal is in Canada. My favorite (though very unknown) band from Canada is Treble Charger and my favorite song by them is 'Even Grable'.

Enjoy the video!

ps - Vanessa, I'm still working on a pattern for you!

2nd package received and contest pattern for Jules

As I still don't have internet at home, I'm posting the contest pattern for Jules here - she sent me some Hempathy yarn in black and white and I found the Midwest Moonlight Scarf to go with it.

And I received my second package yesterday, it was a great as the first one - there was some handdyed Knitpicks merino/silk in green and purple, green and purple stitch markers, a dragon themed sock pattern, dark chocolate, hot chocolate and everything was wrapped in fabric with dragons on it.

I'll post pics as soon as I can, hopefully I'll be back online by the weekend

Colder than a witch's.....

I sent Bella Bambina some Ella Rae yarn, and she sent me this fun pattern :

Jessica's Which Witch

I imagine wearing this, standing over a smokey cauldron, or maybe just rocking out in my living room. I thought the CREAM song Strange Brew was appropriate. I urge you to check out the video, just to see how they jammed out on TV in B & W.

Just in time for Halloween

So, I sent my pal some Colinette jitterbug, and she, clever girl that she is, sent me this pattern.

This is my opus:

From what I've read, this is an instrumental inspired by H. P. Lovecraft's Call of Cthulhu. Any mortal man is advised never to speak Cthulhu's name aloud, for fear of calling the beast. This may be why Metallica chose to change the spelling of it's name, as well as speak no words in the song.

Go ahead, I dare you. Speak it's name three times in front of a mirror in a darkened room. Scared? Mwah ha ha ha!!

Thanks for such a cool pattern, Rhoda!

oh, yeah, deadline...

Thanks Selana! She pointed out there is no deadline listed for the next contest... Lets go with November 7th - winner is announced November 10th...

Thanks to my pal for her contest submission, now I have some work to do on both ends... And thanks to Metal and Knit for her most interesting contest entry and bit of rock history! I can already see where this could be a fun contest!

Thanks for playing!!

The Wonderful Wallaby

I keep forgetting to put my thanks up for Rhoda. Forgive me, I have been sick most of last week and am just getting over it this week. This little pattern arrived one day totally unexpected. Thank you!!!! I see Wonderful Wallabys in the future for the boys.

Game on

This time round using 8ply/ Worsted yarn Deb sent me this pattern. After a little bit of a big giggle and thought what do I know in songs that fits to this one.

Iron Maiden - Charlotte the Harlot

Well considering the Snatchel and well I think Prositutes and well it is a pretty close match there. As wiki helps to outline.

In an interview, Steve Harris was asked "Is there a real Charlotte?" and answered "sort of", before changing the subject.[1] However, when asked, Paul Di'Anno said the following: "Yep, it's true. Her real name is High Hill Lil and she’s basically an old prostitute. Well, actually she was more of a slut, ha ha! I mean, if you turned up to her house with some booze or some speed you were more or less guaranteed a lay. She was a legend in Walthamstow, everyone knew her... She was about 45 but a real rock out bitch... She’d take any guy from 15 upwards, ha ha! The song says that she lived on Acacia Avenue but it's actually Markhouse Road, just before you go into Leyton 'cause that's the area where I lived."[2] Di'Anno has however been known to say things that aren't entirely true, and therefore the above information must be taken with a pinch of salt.

I think it fits there.

New Contest!!

So either everyone is ignoring me - or everyone is on ravelry, I am going with the latter. We are going in reverse order this time. So each spoilee should take a yarn from their spoiling box that has recently been received and put it through ravelry to find a truely outrageous pattern for your yarn. If you didn't get any yarn that would be listed on ravelry - or there are no wild patterns - fudge a little (use the yarn weight, color, some attribute of the yarn)... When you have the pattern, forward a link to your spoiling pal, who then has to come up with a song that fits the pattern.

Example - Not a true one - I got cascade 220 from my pal - I use the project tab of Ravelry to find this pattern which I then send to my pal who sent me the Cascade 220. She then decides on the song Detachable Penis by King Missle and puts a link on the PRGE blog for the pattern, the song and an explanation of why the two mesh...

Thanks for playing!!

My first swap package ever!

Yay! I was finally able to retrieve my hostage (package) from my apartment building office.

The yarn is super soft. My DH was eyeing it and wondering aloud how it feel all done up in some socks. Needless to say, I will let him know. I LOVE the dishcloths. I just made my first one and was amazed at how well it cleaned. I can't wait to try these. Although, they might be too pretty to actually use on anything dirty. I also got clothing labels, they rock. They have directions for taking care of wool. Oh yeah, I got a nice note from Pseudobunny and some sock thread. Thanks Rachel!

Yay!!

My package came in the mail yesterday. At least that is what the post it note on my mailbox said. Unfortunately, my apartment office is holding it hostage until I can actually arrive home when they are still open. I will try to get it tonight, but I might not make it until Friday morning. Darn...I'm dying to see what Pseudobunny sent me!

Package arrived in Canada!

I received a my package today, all the way from Germany! Selana spoiled me rotten!

She sent me the most beautiful, red angora! I've never knit with angora before, and I'm really excited to make something beautiful with it.

I also received this wonderful multi-coloured bamboo yarn, chocolate, and cute pencil.

Thanks, Yvonne!

Requim spoiled me!

This box made my day! There were the three skeins of yarn spun locally and one skein of beautiful dark chocolate llama - all of which smell amazing!!
A beautiful lace shawl pattern... And a card and photo of her pug, Noam, guarding the yarn. We are going to see my grandson for his third birthday this weekend, so I see a striped felted french market bag as my plane project! I'll keep you up to date...

Thanks so much Kirsten!!

Thanks Knit-Kat!

Ha..I love it! From Knit Kat I got a bunch of crazy halloween goodies - partially consumed at work - and some AWESOME yarn and some other goodies -
The lights ended up on the wall at the bar - I guess they wont be study lights - eep.

And the pop rocks we consumed while I counted out my bank from Saturday.

They were much better than my bacon wrapped hot dogs I had later on...
I am excited to try the Red Heart...It will be second in line behind the socks I have for Clinton right now..

Aussie killed that ball in about 3 seconds flat!!

Osky loved his monsters. He won't play with them though - he just looks at them and says "oooooooooo!"

I love it! Thank you Kathleen - too funny you got me huh?!
And Vanessa your box should be there tomorrow or wednesday. again - forgive...eek!

not online for a while

I'm really sorry, but I will not be able to be online for a while as I have some problems with my ISP. Hopefully everything will work fine soon, but as for now I can't go online and will not be able to participate in any of the activities of this swap.

Oh, and I did receive my first package from Jules, it was wonderful and I can't wait to finish some of my projects so I can start knitting with the hemp yarn. I'll post pics as soon as I can go online again

Made My Day

I got a wonderful package from my super pal, Carly. I got a cool skully mug and stitch-markers, stickers, coffee (she says it's better than Starbucks), chocolates, and sweet grayish/pinkish MALABRIGO!!!!
Woo Hoo!

ETA: Oops, I forgot to mention the lotion and awesome stationary!

Package!

My package came on Wednesday and I held off posting because she didn't reveal herself in the package. I got an email today, though, telling me it was Shelvicious :)

Check out my goodies:

I got the brand-new Garrison Keillor book (I love Prairie Home Companion!), a skully notion bag and key/badge holder, skully charm, yummy lip balm and a pretty blue ball of Silky Flamme!

And dudes, the book. It's signed. Not just signed with his name. . . signed TO ME! Vanessa stood in line ON HER HONEYMOON to get the just released book and for him to sign it - and he was LATE to the signing. If that doesn't qualify as far and away the best swap partner ever, I just don't know what does!

THANKS SHELVICIOUS!!!

Package arrives in Oregon

My first package has arrived here and it was great!!! Actually it got here yesterday but it was a busy day. Thank you Rhoda!!! Look at all the great goodies. I was actually thinking about buying some of the pumpkin candies at knit night but got some gummy bears instead. We hold knit night at one of the local Haggen's grocery stores. We hadoutgrown the Starbucks that we had been going to. And they kept turning up the music too loud.

Anyway, the yarn is from Ruby Sapphire Yarns and I love the colors. Plus there was some knitting hand balm that is lavender scented from Knit and a yarn guide to help me with knitting with 2 or more colors. And last but certainly not the least, a Knitters Rule Needle Gauge from Karat Stix. It's sooo pretty in person.

The small project bag is reversable. Love the Halloween theme!!! I am gonna take this little beauty to knit night next week to show it off.

And here are the two little ones with their Hot Wheels cars. They were very happy and say thank you as well.

SO Busy

I am so sorry I have been MIA, I did receive a wonderful package which I thanked my Pal for and promise to post early next week as I am working 12-16 hours a day til then. I also sent my Pal's package off. I did not do well with the song contest, again I apologioze. Things are quieting down after next week so I will be better.

I KNEW IT!!

Yea! I gots my goods!
It was from MetalandKnit. Where to start...
I received lipgloss which I'm unsure it really isn't
strawberry gel because I want to eat it.
A kick-ass polka-dot bag, an aussie hankie, fun
pads for my kiddies...OH!! A CD of a local band..

Here's my two friends who are made of chocolate. They won't be around too long so get your hellos in now. They are showing off some nice dark sparkly blue nail polish. ( just my color too! )

And here's my other fun pad friend, he looks like a William, or possibly an Oscar. He's being a naughty boy and is teasing me with those scissors. I would very much like the embroidered wash cloth to stay in one piece William! ( oh, there was also a bag of Dove chocolate, but I was eating them so they are not pictured )

Hold on, Does this mean I won the contest too?

I got my package!!!!

My package arrived yesterday and it was awesome!!!! I opened it right before I had to go pick up my kids from school and then go on to various activities with them- so I took a quick picture because I wanted to use the bag Kelly crocheted for me right away!!! She also sent me yarn and the pattern for Pirate mittens!!! I love all of it- I am into knitting mittens lately, so this is perfect!!! She also sent me beautiful stitch markers and Halloween straws ( which my girls loved!). Thanks for everything Kelly, I can't wait to cast on!!!

Arrival in Hartford.

I got an amazing package from my awesome spoiler, Life Junkie!

PRGE, fall 08

In all, I received:

PRGE, fall 08

A Magic Ball of mohair and a coordinating pattern from Be Sweet, Orange Jelly Belly beans, Karma Checks, an adorable tin of peppermints, and freshly roasted coffee from Lexington Coffee Roasters. The book that Life Junkie included is similar to a personal favorite, Persepolis. This one, Blankets, is also an illustrated novel.

Blankets, by Craig Thompson

I love this!! Thank you so much, Life Junkie!! I knew your name was Ellie, but I didn't know that Ellie = Life Junkie, so I had a good time scouring most of the PRGE blogs to find out ;) Now I know a lot more about the players in this swap! So, thanks for that, too.
