Themed with niceties from BC - Requiem spoiled me once again. There is the beautiful green yarn - one of my favorite colors - with a pattern attached to knit and felt. My wonderful partner GirlyWithATwist (AKA AngelaMarie) sent me a Twilight themed package, to wrap up the swap with a bang! She sent two skeins of Cascade 220 in ruby red and black, along with THREE twilight themed patterns. I am currently working on the Bite Me scarf, but adapting it into a cowl, for instant gratification. I want to wear it in Chicago, which is where I am spending my Thanksgiving. She also included Rosalie and Eclipse socks. And, because she knows me so well, some delicious dark chocolate and a pocket Oregon calendar. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Angela!

I was soo happy when my package came on Saturday.

T sent me a lovely calendar, Ned Kelly Soap which smells so good and has contaminated everything with sandal wood scent. ( totally not a bad thing!)

Some vegemite, peanut butter, and honey. I tried the vegemite, and it was different. It almost tasted like soy sauce made into a paste for me. Maltish, salty. It was yummy as suggested by T, on toast with butter.

And wool/alpaca blend yarn that is wonderful to touch, chocolaty, soft & squishy and is waiting to be ...........?

Thank You Arika- Again!

I received this lovely second package today from Arika. She had made sheep knitting needle tops which are just so cute, The yarn is dyed locally, very squishy and beautiful colours. You can't properly see the chocolate crochet hook dusted with real gold made by an artisan nearby to Arika's home or the white chocolate sheep also dusted with gold so I'm sorry for my terrible photography. You can see the card with a heron print on it, a lovely addition to the parcel.

Here at long last is a picture of my second package from Rhoda. I honestly can't remember when it got here as I have been pretty distracted lately. Most of ya'll don't know that my husband recently suffered from a mild heart attack. This was on the 2nd of the month. He is at home recuperating quite nicely. As a result of this, I am way behind on my emails. The package was greatly appreciated. The two boys loved the little dinosaur. I haven't shown them the Thomas whistle yet as it no doubt will start a screaming battle between the two. I love the yarn and the book. Thankfully it is one that I didn't have. So thank you dear pal for your very sweet package and please accept my apologies for not posting the thanks in a more timely manner.

My Parcel arrived and packed full of goodies from our Hostess with the Mostess Sunne. I now have yarn to play with that I dont have access to here SWS and Venezia. I have the most awesome needle holder and a little book of knitting as well as a cute little journal. A great enviro bag and some stitch markers with cute little pirate dogs.

Boss was spoilt as well with 2 new toys. He loves them and thinks Sunne is the best spoiler.

I got some red angora for Requiem and she wants to combine it with black yarn to make a pair of these.

The look of the gloves and her color choice will make this a rather gothic project, that's why I decided for this song. It is called Eisblumen and from one of my favorite German bands Subway to Sally. As the song is in German, I tried to translate the lyrics for you - I hope it makes sense, it's really hard to translate lyrics.

Ice flowers

HI Everyone! I got my second package from Imen Stitches on Saturday. She really packed a lot in. And she wrapped everything separately, it was like Christmas. There is some yummy "Limbo Mexiko" yarn, which is German. A pattern for fingerless mitts to go with it. A book, Knit Wit 30 Easy and hip projects. And a bunch of little goodies- Chocolate, post-it arrows, a little sketch book, a wood bead necklace kit (made it last night), A wonder woman wallet, cds, handiwipes, and a reed diffuser. I think thats it. Deb was a great spoiler and who ever gets her next time will really enjoy their packages. Thanks Deb!!!!!

Kat sent me this pattern to match with a song. It's a knitted lampshade! I am discovering that there is nothing that can't be turned into a knitting project! It's been nice to stop thinking about the election for a few moments to find a song match. I found one from one of the most talented bands of all time, Rush. Have you checked out their website? If not, you must go see. I had no idea they were still together and will be listening to their new album after I'm done posting this.

I picked the song, Limelight. The video is not the greatest but the tunage more than makes up for it. Enjoy!

My partner Life Junkie sent me the link to Pulse Warmers and as demented as it may be, when I think of pulse warmers it makes me think of suicide (not for me personally so please no hotline phone numbers). I received my package from Rachel this weekend. It was amazing. I had so much fun opening it. Because I am crazy, this is the first thing that caught my eye...

That is sooo awesome. I love it. I got so many great things, don't be mad if I forget some. I got a Munny, a project bag with two gorgeous skeins of yarn, Spicy Chai, chocolate covered pretzels, treats for my dog, a silcone flower ring to cook eggs in, a fan, pencils, a package of my own plastic silverware, and a little chicken guy. I know you said he was your favorite, but I have never heard of him. I will have to do some research...

Package 2 - A birthday Treat

Saturday was my Birthday and Shelvicious had a lovely surprise waiting on my doorstep!

The package was chok-full of wonderful! Halloween cocktail mixes, dish scrubbies and Mr Potato Head. A skein of K1C2 Ty-Dy Sock, a skein of Silky Malabrigo in the gorgeous color Amoroso (I'm making mittens out of that colorway in worsted Mal!). Rounding out the package are some Ferrero Rocher chocolates and a really neat bamboo needle repair kit - it includes sandpaper, beeswax and buffing flannel to touch up the needles when necessary!

Thank you so much, Vanessa! I had such a great time this round of the swap. I hope I can participate next round if it doesn't conflict with wedding timing!

My Second Package!

The bestest pal in the world, Carly, sent me my second package early because she knew I was going through some stress at work.
This package absolutely ROCKS!
Everything came in a Knit In Public bag with a ton of little pockets inside. Carly hid all the goodies in the pockets. (There could possibly be some I haven't found yet, LOL.)

I got some cute note cards and a note pad, some beautiful peacock-colored Lamb's Pride, some "Hand made By:" tags, the prettiest beads evah!, and a bath fizzy I can't wait to try out.

So Shannon sent me this golf club cover pattern to go with the Malabrigo I sent her. Golf isn't the punkest thing, so I played a little '6 degrees of separation' to get to my answer (but I didn't go 6 steps!)

Golf Records is the label of Less than Jake. Ska is not so much my thing, but Less than Jake opened for Bad Religion when I saw them in concert in Montreal in December 2002. Montreal is in Canada. My favorite (though very unknown) band from Canada is Treble Charger and my favorite song by them is 'Even Grable'.

As I still don't have internet at home, I'm posting the contest pattern for Jules here - she sent me some Hempathy yarn in black and white and I found the Midwest Moonlight Scarf to go with it.

And I received my second package yesterday, it was a great as the first one - there was some handdyed Knitpicks merino/silk in green and purple, green and purple stitch markers, a dragon themed sock pattern, dark chocolate, hot chocolate and everything was wrapped in fabric with dragons on it.

From what I've read, this is an instrumental inspired by H. P. Lovecraft's Call of Cthulhu. Any mortal man is advised never to speak Cthulhu's name aloud, for fear of calling the beast. This may be why Metallica chose to change the spelling of it's name, as well as speak no words in the song.

Go ahead, I dare you. Speak it's name three times in front of a mirror in a darkened room. Scared? Mwah ha ha ha!!

New Contest!!

So either everyone is ignoring me - or everyone is on ravelry, I am going with the latter. We are going in reverse order this time. So each spoilee should take a yarn from their spoiling box that has recently been received and put it through ravelry to find a truely outrageous pattern for your yarn. If you didn't get any yarn that would be listed on ravelry - or there are no wild patterns - fudge a little (use the yarn weight, color, some attribute of the yarn)... When you have the pattern, forward a link to your spoiling pal, who then has to come up with a song that fits the pattern.

Example - Not a true one - I got cascade 220 from my pal - I use the project tab of Ravelry to find this pattern which I then send to my pal who sent me the Cascade 220. She then decides on the song Detachable Penis by King Missle and puts a link on the PRGE blog for the pattern, the song and an explanation of why the two mesh...

My first swap package ever!

Yay! I was finally able to retrieve my hostage (package) from my apartment building office.

The yarn is super soft. My DH was eyeing it and wondering aloud how it feel all done up in some socks. Needless to say, I will let him know. I LOVE the dishcloths. I just made my first one and was amazed at how well it cleaned. I can't wait to try these. Although, they might be too pretty to actually use on anything dirty. I also got clothing labels, they rock. They have directions for taking care of wool. Oh yeah, I got a nice note from Pseudobunny and some sock thread. Thanks Rachel!

This box made my day! There were the three skeins of yarn spun locally and one skein of beautiful dark chocolate llama - all of which smell amazing!!
A beautiful lace shawl pattern... And a card and photo of her pug, Noam, guarding the yarn. We are going to see my grandson for his third birthday this weekend, so I see a striped felted french market bag as my plane project! I'll keep you up to date...

Ha..I love it! From Knit Kat I got a bunch of crazy halloween goodies - partially consumed at work - and some AWESOME yarn and some other goodies -
The lights ended up on the wall at the bar - I guess they wont be study lights - eep.

And the pop rocks we consumed while I counted out my bank from Saturday.

They were much better than my bacon wrapped hot dogs I had later on...
I am excited to try the Red Heart...It will be second in line behind the socks I have for Clinton right now..

My first package has arrived here and it was great!!! Actually it got here yesterday but it was a busy day. Thank you Rhoda!!! Look at all the great goodies. I was actually thinking about buying some of the pumpkin candies at knit night but got some gummy bears instead. We hold knit night at one of the local Haggen's grocery stores. We hadoutgrown the Starbucks that we had been going to. And they kept turning up the music too loud.

Anyway, the yarn is from Ruby Sapphire Yarns and I love the colors. Plus there was some knitting hand balm that is lavender scented from Knit and a yarn guide to help me with knitting with 2 or more colors. And last but certainly not the least, a Knitters Rule Needle Gauge from Karat Stix. It's sooo pretty in person.

The small project bag is reversable. Love the Halloween theme!!! I am gonna take this little beauty to knit night next week to show it off.

And here are the two little ones with their Hot Wheels cars. They were very happy and say thank you as well.

My package arrived yesterday and it was awesome!!!! I opened it right before I had to go pick up my kids from school and then go on to various activities with them- so I took a quick picture because I wanted to use the bag Kelly crocheted for me right away!!! She also sent me yarn and the pattern for Pirate mittens!!! I love all of it- I am into knitting mittens lately, so this is perfect!!! She also sent me beautiful stitch markers and Halloween straws ( which my girls loved!). Thanks for everything Kelly, I can't wait to cast on!!!

A Magic Ball of mohair and a coordinating pattern from Be Sweet, Orange Jelly Belly beans, Karma Checks, an adorable tin of peppermints, and freshly roasted coffee from Lexington Coffee Roasters. The book that Life Junkie included is similar to a personal favorite, Persepolis. This one, Blankets, is also an illustrated novel.

I love this!! Thank you so much, Life Junkie!! I knew your name was Ellie, but I didn't know that Ellie = Life Junkie, so I had a good time scouring most of the PRGE blogs to find out ;) Now I know a lot more about the players in this swap! So, thanks for that, too.

My package arrived today! It came during the Ohio State game and it must have brought me good luck because we SO won the game! I should have taken a guess who my pal was before the package arrived because I suspected it was DawnRays but since I didn't say so before, it doesn't sound so credible, does it?

Here's what she sent me:

I've got three skeins to use as I wish (2 Katia peru skeins with an alpaca/acrylic/wool mix and one very punky Noro skein). Dawn MADE me the fishbone lace cowl which is WAY cool! The stitch markers (also made by Dawn) are my very first fancy markers. I got the spiderwebby cloth and pumpkin which will stay out as Halloween is approaching. She also sent me notecards and a shower sponge which will both be put to good use. How can someone I've never met know the exact right things to send?!

With a Buckeye win and my package, I can call this a perfect day!

Just my luck that a package from my prge spoiler should be awaiting me when I got home from work this afternoon! Not only did I have some yummy gelato today but I also got a swap package--what more could a girl ask for??

Hi Everyone! I got home from school yesterday to find a box from my buddy. She must have read my mind cuz there were 2 skeins of Ella Rae wool, the lys got that in recently and I wanted to try it. There were also some cute stitch markers, they are like shrinky dinks!(remember those). And flavored lip gloss in diner flavors. Some report covers which will be good for protecting my patterns. And the coolest thing I've ever seen, a szechuan scarf. It is a ball of bulky wool in a chinese food container with knitting needles sticking out of the top like chopsticks. I almost don't want to make the scarf cuz it looks so cool.

My secret buddy didn't let me know who she was but gave me some clues and I managed to figure it out. It is Imen Stitches! Thank you so much for the goodies, i can't wait to see what you send next.

OH! i almost forgot it was all packed in this really cute tote bag. I used it today for my schoolbooks.

When you come home from a Monday at work that felt like it was a whole week instead of a 9 hour shift and find a parcel you didnt expect it certainly makes things better. My Punk Pal arranged for some lovely sock yarn to be sent to me from the other side od Australia. It came from Perth Western Australia and I opened it while watching the Red Bull Air race which will be there in a few weeks time. Thank you so much I love it so awesome.

With this one, I went with the lore of the song - this song is about suicide and Ian Curtis who wrote the song, committed suicide by hanging - so I went with the Emilie Lace Choker.

Bela Lugosi's Dead - Bahaus
For this I went with the Wa na na na na na na na bat shawl from the Anticraft - which Kikibowns is knitting right now. It really went with the song line "White on white translucent black capes" and since Bela became famous for being a vampire - the bats just tied it all together...

Halloween - Misfits
For this one, I went with the Tesselating Skulls chart on Ravelry (free till October 1st) I see so many possibilities with this chart... And the repetition of the skulls reminds me of the repetition of the song, and really what is more Halloween then skulls...

And an extra special thanks to my pal for picking great songs that I actually knew!!

Well today there has been a bit of a pal shake-up. We did have to remove someone from the exchange for not playing nicely. If I had to switch your pals, thank you for your patience! If you haven't heard from your pal... be a little patient, this shake up could effect you (I did not alert downstream pals). And for those of you who notice or are told your pal's has changed addresses, thank you for your flexibility!

Now on to the contest!! Okay, this is complicated so read it all the way through!!
The spoiler e-mails her pal three songs (please, try not to get too obscure - its hard for your pal to play if they do not know/cannot find the song). The spoilee takes these three songs and puts knitting or crochet to them. It can be things that you have made, things you want to make or random things you find on Ravelry or the web that fit the songs. Please post photos and links when you can. Be as creative as you like - last time this was really fun to see what punks came up with! To be entered in the contest - there must be three songs with three fiber items. Prizes will be awarded to teams. I am not sure what the prizes will be, but they will be the same for spoiler and spoilee. Today is the 10th, you will have till the 28th to complete the contest. I'm in Dallas. Drove up here today because power is out in Louisiana still. My DH said it might be a week. Some areas are bracing for a month with no electricity. I'm going to drive back on Monday power or no. Thanks to those of you that sent prayers. We had no damage, but all of our neighbors had downed trees and three of my relatives had serious damage to their homes. (Our playhouse roof blew off but DH said he never did get to nailing it on, so I'm not counting that.)

So, I don't blog. I don't journal or scrapbook, 'cause I suck at it. I have all of my photos in various boxes, bags, and envelopes. I'm terrible at letter writing. But here I am, giving it the old college try. I recently joined ravelry, and I am having a great time finding new projects and making new friends. Here is my latest project, the Wa na na na na na na na bat shawl. I'm having a blast knitting this one up, even though I f**cked up one of the bats slightly. I didn't frog it and redo because:

1. I am terrible at frogging. I frog further that I need to go, lose my place, and end up with a bigger mess than with what I started.

2. It will be up against my back while I am wearing it, the light will not be shining through it so the bad spot won't be so noticeable.

3. The friends I show it to won't care; they love me anyway.

It looks like most everyone has said hello - somewhere I had a contest around this. So anyone who has not said hello, do so by tomorrow to be entered. Mr.sunneshine will pull out the honorary Shriner's hat and draw a name from everyone who entered. I have two skeins of Koigu RPPPM sock yarn in multi colors that I will send to the winner with some stitch markers. Results will be posted on Friday....

I have had several pals tell me that they were starting contact by snail mail - so give your pals a few days to contact you. But please, everyone contact your pals quickly! Let them know you care.... Also, keep ShannonAnn in your thoughts, she and her family in LA were bracing for the hurricane on Monday.

I will post the first real contest - that will require you and your partner play together - on Tuesday of next week. If you don't want to play, its alright, just let your pal know. The contest is scored as a team, so everyone has two chances to win if you play.

My first package hasn't even gone out and I think I just revealed my identity. Here's what I did in case you newbies want to learn from another dufus newbie on what NOT to do. When you set up your anonymous email account, be sure to delete your name from automatically appearing on outgoing messages. In Yahoo it defaults to including it, which I didn't realize until I sent out my first message introducing myself. D'oh!
